Top 3 Reasons for Short Term Auto Insurance

For various circumstances, there may only be a need for short term auto insurance as it may not be financially sound or logical for a longer term policy. So here are the top three reasons for needing that type of car insurance. Do you fall under any of these categories?

  1. College Student- If you're a college student and attend school away from home, paying insurance for your car that might just be sitting in the garage is not cost efficient. Especially in these tough economic times and as a college kid barely scraping by, it would be a wiser move to find a short term auto insurance policy that would cover you for the few months over the summer that you are actually home. Then while you're studying and enjoying the college life for the other eight months or so in the year, you'll have less of a financial burden to worry about.
  2. Moving- Let's say you're moving to a new house and need to make some improvements to it as well, but you only own a car, and a truck would be needed for this situation. You can borrow a friend's heavy duty truck for the temporary time being, so to be on the safe side of things in case of any accidents, you can get a temporary insurance policy. Even if you're just moving your things to your house from your old place or transporting lumber for your additions, a short term policy would be the way to go.
  3. Overseas Visitor- If you're venturing off to another country for a few months or if you know anyone coming to the United States for a bit and a car will be used for that period of time, temporary policy would also be ideal. Especially in another country where it can be easy to get lost and where the way of driving can possibly be different, more risks are involved, so protect yourself wherever you are.
